URGENT APPLICATION IN LABOUR COURT

BEMAWU on Friday filed its urgent application in the Labour Court for the reinstatement of our members, the journalists Mr. Lukhanyo Calata, Ms. Busisiwe Ntuli and Ms. Thandeka Gqubule.
The three have been dismissed without following any procedure and without any disciplinary hearing.
By not holding a disciplinary hearing the SABC breached the terms and conditions of employment of the individuals, and acted in breach of the Collective Agreement.
Calata and Ntuli were never suspended and given until the 28th of July to reply to a so-called Schedule 8 letter. They were dismissed before they could reply and before the deadline given by the SABC.
BEMAWU will continue to protect our members against any unfair conduct in the workplace.
The matter will be heard on Thursday, 28 July 2016.
